A message from our founder

Esperanza Pacios

Founder & Executive Director, Miami Behavioral Services

Miami Behavioral Services (MBS) was born from a profound conviction: true progress begins when science, compassion, and integrity unite to serve a greater purpose. Every single member of society shares the responsibility of making this world a better place — because that is the true legacy we leave to our children and grandchildren.

As Founder and Executive Director, my vision has always been to create an organization where families feel understood, supported, and empowered — not just attended to. My background in Law, Psychology, and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has taught me that while clinical precision is vital to human development and behavioral transformation, human connection, empathy, and ethical responsibility are equally essential.

At MBS, we don’t just work with behaviors — we work with lives, with the stories behind every child, and with the dreams of every parent who places their trust in us. Every assessment, every goal, and every intervention plan is designed with the unwavering belief that each child holds unlimited potential, and our mission is to open the path for that potential to flourish.

We strive to make therapy accessible, effective, and meaningful —whether provided at home, in school, daycare, or within the community— because true learning happens in the spaces where life unfolds.

Our mission is clear:

To guide, support, and strengthen families so they can build a better future. To ensure every child grows with confidence, independence, and joy. To turn therapeutic excellence into more than a service — into a professional purpose.

We are convinced that when we help a child, we strengthen the entire family — and when families thrive, the whole community benefits.

Welcome to our great family: Miami Behavioral Services.

Karen Treto, BCBA

Clinical Director, Miami Behavioral Services

As Clinical Director at Miami Behavioral Services (MBS), I have the privilege and responsibility of ensuring that every therapeutic program we deliver reflects the highest clinical, ethical, and professional standards. My mission is to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of children and families through quality, integrity, and compassion.I earned my degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Florida International University (FIU) and am also a certified teacher with the School Board, specializing in Mathematics.

This unique blend of education and behavioral science has shaped my vision of what true learning and development mean — a process that combines structure, empathy, and the belief that every child is capable of progress when given the right support. For me, ABA is more than a science test. It is a call. It is about understanding the individuality of each child, designing interventions that honor their dignity, and building the bridge between data and humanity.

My commitment is to ensure that each program is not only evidence-based but also transformative — that it helps children gain confidence, independence, and joy in their daily lives.I feel proud and honored to be part of Miami Behavioral Services and to lead such a talented, dedicated, and compassionate clinical team.

Each professional under my guidance represents the values we stand for — professionalism, empathy, and excellence. Together, we work tirelessly to ensure that our clients receive the care and attention they truly deserve. My dedication to the families we serve goes beyond the clinical setting. I believe that partnership with parents and caregivers is the foundation for meaningful change. Supporting families, listening to their concerns, and walking alongside them through every stage of progress is one of the most rewarding aspects of my role.Ethics and compassion guide everything I do.

Behind every graph, note, and session, there is a story — a child full of potential and a family that trusts us to help them reach it. My purpose as a leader is to make sure that trust is honored, that every intervention has a purpose, and that every life we touch moves one step closer to its fullest potential.

“Every plan, every session, and every interaction is an opportunity to change a life — that is the standard we uphold at MBS.”
